Hello sweet friends!
It’s been far too long. After taking several months off from blogging, I’m back! I want to talk to you about why I took a break and what I’ve been up to recently. Let me just say I’ve missed you and want to know what’s going on in your life too!
First, I’ll tell you that Daniel and I just returned to the States after spending 2 months in Africa and China visiting friends of ours. Because I’m a school nurse and Daniel is in graduate school, we were able to have the summer break together to leave for the summer.
We spent three weeks in a small West African country and it was incredible. I fell in love with the people there and got a taste for what my friend’s life looks like on a daily basis. We played with lots of kids, helped put a garden in my friend’s backyard, and visited different villages. It was really incredible to experience.
Then, we flew straight from Africa to Wuhan, China, where our friend lives and works. It was quite a shock to go from rural Africa to huge, metropolitan Wuhan. There are so many people in China. We loved our time there and really enjoyed traveling all over the country.
So about blogging: I started this food blog when I was in a time of transition with my diet. I had been vegan for about 2.5 years, and was exploring and experimenting with other ways of eating after returning from our bicycle tour last summer. As I continued to kind of figure things out with my diet and my body, I wasn’t quite sure how best to share that with you guys.
Another reason I took a break was that I had felt a little restricted by writing only about food and sharing recipes. It was difficult for me to consistently come up with content week after week and I wanted to write about other things too. I wasn’t sure how to do that. So the past few months I’ve taken a step back and re-evaluated where I want to go with blogging, what I want Feeding Daniel to look like, and what kinds of things I want to share with you guys.
I would love and really appreciate your feedback on this. I want to continue to share recipes and try new food and put it out here. There are some other areas that I’m really passionate about that I think would be fun to incorporate on the blog and turn it into more of a lifestyle/wellness blog. I’d share about:
- Fitness (yoga, running, cycling..)
- Natural beauty & skincare products
- Zero waste lifestyle
- Eco fashion
